Language Codes

The Language code is a two-letter code (with an optional classifier) or a specific label representing the preferred language of a person. You can include a person's Language in their employee data in the Language column of your user import.

  1. Within your Employee Data file, find the field Language

  2. For each of the employees, allocate a locale code for their preferred language

  3. Save and upload the file via the import users feature

Note: that once your file has been imported, the Language specified under the Language column in your import file, will translate to the Preferred Language field within the users profile:

If your account or survey is enabled to issue emails and surveys to employees in languages other than English, when that person is sent their survey invite email, it will be displayed in their preferred language. When they click the link to take the survey, it will also be displayed in their preferred language. They can opt to change the language at any time when taking the survey.

If everyone is able to read English, you can leave the Language field blank during the Import Users process. Leaving the Language value blank will default to US English as their preferred language.

To update the preferred language of one of your employees, add a column called Language to your import and populate the field with either the two-letter code (see Language code column) or the Language label (see Language (in English) column)

Note: The language code is not used when survey participants are given a kiosk code to take a survey instead of being emailed a survey link. The kiosk launch page allows participants to select their preferred language if configured.

💡Tip: While Culture Amp aims to provide accurate translations of the standard survey questions and communications, it is highly recommended that one of your colleagues who speaks the language has the opportunity to review the questions and the translated versions to ensure that the content is identical before launching.
